Here are some office suites, not only Ms or Sun brand...

I know Abiword or Scribus as lightweight word processors.
Gnumeric is a fantastic spreadsheets creator.

Most of the "office" file we use are in MS Office format, and are supported by every office suite.

IBM Lotus SmartSuite and Sun StarOffice are proprietary software and are both based on OpenOffice 1.*
